GGS Annual meeting with delicious German lunch (sauerbraten and bratwurst). Lunch served at 11:30. You may register by mailing in the registration flyer or via PayPal button below. You Must register by Thursday, November 6 to reserve your lunch.
 
 
Exciting news our speaker will be Paula Stuart Warren who is a well-known local speaker will make the presentation on Saturday. 
 
Paula works full time in genealogical and historical research, lecturing, consulting, and writing. Her research specialties include methodology, research planning, one-on-one consultations, Native Americans, the U.S. National Archives and its regional facilities, the FamilySearch Library, Midwestern and Plains states, Minnesota Historical Society, the New England Historic Genealogical Society, Wisconsin Historical Society, and unusual records. “A Bakers Dozen: Easy Ways to Begin Writing Your Family History”
Anyone can write! Learn ways to get your family history in print without a lot of strain. It’s not as daunting a task as you might think. A baker’s dozen of ways to work on this over time and ideas to get your greater family involved will be shared. You may find that you are already doing some of these but hadn’t realized you were actually getting family history into print! Some of the ideas lend themselves to scrapbooking techniques. Including family health history information is an important part of the process; what you share in print may aid a family member someday. Sharing and preserving family stories, both the joyous times and the tough times, can enhance your understanding of yourself and the greater family. Visuals will demonstrate the Baker’s Dozen and a handout will point you to further ideas and help in both print and online formats.

Mecklenburg presentation on history and how to find resources to locate your family

This presentation will begin with a journey through Mecklenburg-Schwerin and Mecklenburg-Strelitz – highlighting their cultural and political development over the centuries. We will explore available genealogical resources, both online and in archives, that can help you uncover your family’s past. Emphasis will be on church records, civil records, and the Mecklenburg census. You will also learn about other sources, such as family records and emigration documents.
 
Andrea Bentschneider is a leading expert in German genealogy with over two decades of experience helping families connect with their German roots. She is the founder of the German Genealogy Collective (GGC), an educational membership community that provides expert guidance, Q&A sessions, and training for those navigating German ancestry research. Through live masterclasses, co-researching sessions, and a supportive network, the GGC empowers individuals to uncover their German heritage with confidence.
 
Andrea is also the founder of Beyond History, a premier genealogy research firm based in Hamburg/Germany, and has been featured on Who Do You Think You Are?, Finding Your Roots, and numerous German media outlets. Her expertise spans German ancestral research, WWII documentation, Jewish family history, and citizenship applications.
 
As president of the Association of German-Speaking Professional Genealogists since 2013 and a Director at Large for IGGP (International German Genealogy Partnership), Andrea is actively involved in shaping the field of genealogy.
